Home Makeover Challenge
Welcome to SD's Home Makeover Challenge!
Here we will have homes that are in various states of "repair", and are just
screaming for you to add your own personal touch to them. Periodically, we will
add more homes to the challenge for you to express your own style on. We have 3
different challenge levels for you to choose from depending on how challenging
you want it to be. To start, simply download a home you want to renovate,
and choose a challenge level to begin!
Challenge Levels
1.
You are a realtor buying a house, and fixing it up to sell to that lovely family
down the street with unlimited funds. Simply download the lot that you
would like to work on, and "update" it any way you please. No money
restrictions, no time line...just have fun and renovate as you please!
2. You are a young
Business-Sim looking to make a quick buck in the realty market, and you have
$50,000 to repair/update the house so that it will be presentable to sell and
make a good chunk of change off of. Move a Sim of your choice in, use the
familyfunds cheat if you have Nightlife
- or the kaching cheat if you don't -
to give your Sim that amount...and keep your makeover within this budget. What
can you accomplish with this set budget?
3. You are a young
Sim family, with a new baby or toddler, that need to move into a larger home to
have room for your family...but you're short on funds! Move a family that must
include at least one new toddler (add more for a more challenging experience),
and use the familyfunds cheat if you
have Nightlife - or the kaching cheat
if you don't - to give them exactly $10,000 when they move in. Update and
work on the house to make it livable again within your family's life span.
Can you renovate the home into their dream before their time runs out? Or, how
many generations will it take you to do everything you wish to the home?
After you complete the
challenge version of your choice, if you would like to share your end results,
simply snap some pictures (or take some during the process to show the changes)
and share your story with others! If you create a makeover story and upload the
story to the exchange, we'd love it if you signed our
guestbook or
emailed us to let us see how you did! Please do NOT upload the homes to the
Sims 2 Exchange or any other website.

Twister!
       
After a long life
working in the city, the Dr. and his wife decided to settle in a small
farming community. They purchased a lovely ranch house with a small apple
orchard and decided to run a small farmers market from their barn, but
then disaster hit in the form of a tornado! Most of the roof is missing,
walls have been ripped out and some of the floors ruined or stripped down
to the concrete base. Miraculously, the barn took no damage. Can you
repair this home? Will you fix it up and sell it or will your sims live
here and make the most of it? Created by

Avalanche!
On their way
home from grocery shopping, the owners of this home sit at the bottom of
the hill and watch in horror as an Avalanche buries their cabin. Spring
finally arrives and the snows melt, leaving the cabin in a state of
disrepair. The basement is flooded. The plumbing is backing up and
overflowing. Mold has begun to grow. Sadly the couple abandon yet another
home and head for the flat plains of mid-America, far from stormy beaches
or snow capped mountains.

Beach Living
There once was a
man living here who loved animals. He was in the middle of renovating the
place, when one day he, his dog, and his cat just disappeared. The City
Council has stepped in and decided to sell the whole place, just as it
stands. It’s solid, but it’s lacking wall treatments of any type, and
there’s a lot of decay happening. It’s rumored that there may be a couple
of animals left in a back room somewhere, but nobody knows for sure.
Whoever buys the place has a big job in store, but once this strange house
is put to rights, this could be a lovely beach vacation home. Created by

Double Duty
This up-and-down
duplex was once inhabited by a young couple and their pets, who had met
while in college then decided to lease a place together. Eventually they
married, got jobs in another neighborhood, and moved away, leaving many of
their older furnishings behind. Because the price was quite high and the
district somewhat run-down, the house has stood empty for quite some
time--becoming a bit forlorn as the foundation has sagged and the weeds
have taken over the yard. Recently, the former owners have decided to
reduce the price to just $53,096--a steal for this large lot with its
roomy double home! Created by

Four Beach Homes
Blake Mason’s
father built these homes when their little town was a busy tourist center.
All were once luxurious, but with time and neglect, yards are overrun with
weeds, siding and wallpaper are peeling, appliances and furniture are
deteriorating, and the sandy land is either sagging or bulging in more
places than Blake can count. He had begun renovating one of the cottages,
but ran out of money, and energy. Overwhelmed, Blake is now selling the
whole shebang. An enterprising Sim may buy these residences, make them
over, then perhaps rent them to students or seasonal tenants. Created by

Palm Rise
Spinster Rosa lived in the
house her father built till the day she died. She
had gone quite senile in her old age, so the house went to ruin.
After she died her closest relative took it upon
herself to start work on the once beautiful Mediterranean style family
home, but they didn’t get very far as when the
will was read, they discovered Rosa had left
everything she owned to the local cats charity! Now the charity is selling
off the old place to make funds for a new luxurious home for strays.
This house needs a lot of love and money
to bring it back to a wonderful family home. Created by

Forgotten Victorian
In the 1870s, this
house was the jewel of the neighborhood. Sadly, when the original owner
passed away, a series of uncaring residents let the place go. The gardens,
once lush and full of color, and now overgrown. Dead trees grace what was
once a beautiful border of pines. Water leaks and abuse have ruined the
wallpapers. The wood floors are now covered with worn paint and dirt. The
town council is thinking about ripping the house down and putting up a
parking garage - we think the right buyer can return this house to its
former glory and improve the neighborhood. Created by

Hurricane Cassandra
This once lovely
beach front house was hit by Hurricane Cassandra, which blew in, changing
course at the last moment and destroying this home. The roof blew off, the
flower beds have been destroyed the pathway to the beach is cluttered with
junk. The Doctor & his wife who used to live here, survived the storm by
hiding out in the basement. Once it was over, the older couple opted for a
small cabin in the mountains, so they packed up and left. Can you restore
this once beautiful house to its old glory days and make it a home?

Under Construction
This home was
abandoned part way through the construction process when rumors of curses
and ghosts started circling around. It started with a few missing
tools here and there...and then 'accidents' started to happen. The
builders got spooked and took off halfway through the job, too scared to
even bother picking up all their tools as they ran! The owners could
not find another construction company in town who would dare attempt the
job, and sadly had to give up their dream. Can you break the spell
and turn this home into the beauty it deserves to be? Created by
